a culture of being better

Training &

Advancement

  • WonderMart Institutes are an immersive training program that are tied to a functional hypermarket, allowing team members to receive both classroom and sales floor training in advanced merchandising skills and soft skills like leadership, communications and change management. In 2020 alone, we trained 155,000 team members including frontline supervisors, department leaders and assistant managers in our Institutes.

  • A new video game called Metric Mashup lets anyone “practice” as a department lead. Through the game, team members enrolled in WonderMart Institutes learn the same techniques and processes that they will use on the sales floor in real life.

  • In WonderMart’s fiscal year 2020 we promoted more than 90,000 people to higher-paying jobs with increased responsibility.

  • More than 75% of our salaried store management teams started as hourly associates.

  • General managers, on average, earn $200,000 annually and manage and help mentor over 300 associates.

We’ve converted nearly 92,000 associates from part-time to full-time in fiscal year 2020.

Education &

Learning

  • As WonderMart continues to grow, the development of our employees remains a critical element of our future success. It is with this in mind that we offer our employees the support needed to attend and graduate from college or university.

  • In partnership with the Willy Mann Educational Foundation, our New Horizons program gives eligible team members the opportunity to earn debt-free, high-quality degrees, diplomas and certificates in business or supply chain management for just $7 per week. WonderMart covers remaining costs and other required fees.

  • Team Members can receive college credit for paid training at WonderMart Institutes™. As of 2020, team members have already earned more than $100 million in college credits.

  • WonderMart also offers education benefits for GED, high school completion, language training and professional development.
